Because it all starts with the invitation. I would classify what I do, or what I "am", more specifically, as an invitation artist. I create with paper. Lately I've been thinking of myself as the "Ace of Cakes" of the invitations industry. (I claim no affiliation to the Ace himself, but I'll admit I watch, occasionally, in amazement as he creates with fondant.) Like many business owners, I started this venture after hearing, one too many times, "You should do this for a living!". So, at that recommendation, now I do. All of the products you see on our site are my own, exclusive designs, and new designs fill my head daily. As I look around, I'm constantly envisioning how I can make the average, every day item into an invitation. I crave a challenge - the clients that contact me and ask for something so out of the ordinary. To be sure it's clear, all of the products on our site are completely customizable. To clarify, everything is printed, cut and assembled just for you. I use a machine for precision, but the printed card stock is, literally, guided through a cutter by hand. This allows me to provide a limitless variety of shapes, styles, themes, colors, you name it. Put simply, we offer true customization. It's not just font choice and font color that's customizable. It's the project from start to finish. I've had clients email me photos of baby bedding, for example, that they wanted to use as a basis for the theme of their baby shower. It starts from there and ends with a product that was made just for them. (We don't charge for the design time, by the way, for custom work.) As projects are completed, they're added to the site and offered as part of our portfolio. I've learned that some people don't want to have to think about what they want their invitations to look like - they want to pick from a photo. So, by having an online store, but also offering our customization services, both types of people are satisfied. Other miscellaneous, but important facts about Blue Whale Invitations: 1. Nearly all of our products are created using 100% recycled and FSC-certified paper and envelopes... so, we're good to the environment! Each product description lists the level of eco-friendliness by telling you the materials that were used to create them. In very few cases, recycled materials are not available for a particular product... but this is absolutely the exception. As recycled materials become available for these products, we will make the switch in an effort to increase our commitment to a sustainable business. 2. We don't sell our products in pre-set increments, so you order only the quantity you need. 3. Order at least 12 pieces and standard domestic shipping is free! And, for items under our "Scrapbook Die-cuts" category, because we realize you'll rarely need 12 of something, standard shipping is usually free for just one item. Check the item details for specific shipping charges. What's with the Blue Whale? Could be one too many nights watching Animal Planet with my animal-crazy six-year old. It seems fitting, though. The blue whale is the largest mammal (maybe the largest animal) ever to inhabit the earth. With its enormous size, it's hard to miss and it's truly unique. Kind of like our products...
